Chapter 15

Types of Energy:

    1.  Potential - Energy an object has because of its position

    2.  Kinetic - Energy an object has because of its movement.

 3.  Solar - Energy from the sun.     

4.  Hydroelectric -Energy made from falling water.

Magnets - an object that attracts iron and a few other metals.

                -a magnet has two poles - N and S

                -opposites attract.

Electromagnets - a temporary magnet caused by an electric current.

                          - Uses many coils of wire

                           -combination of magnet and electricity

Parallel Circuit -   current can follow more than one path.

Series Circuit -    current has only one path to follow.

Conductor - let electrical charges through

                   -Copper is a good conductor

Insulator- do not let charges through

                -plastic and rubber are good insulators

Generator-a device that can produce electricity

Static Electricity -electrical charge that builds up.

                            examples:  rubbing balloon against hair.

                            -Lightning is static electricity

 Current Electricity - a steady stream of charges.
