Adaptation - body part or body color that helps an animal live

 

                example - a chameleon can change colors

 

                example - a rhino has the horn on its head to defend itself

               

                           

 

Basic Needs

 

            1.  Food        2.  Air            3.  Water           4.  Shelter

                               

 

 

 

Hibernation - dormant inactive state which normal body activities slow down.

                   -Heart beats much slower and body temperature is lowered

 

 

 

Learned Behaviors - things you learn how to do

                            -talking, running, jumping, climbing, etc..

 

 

 

Instinct - Things you know how to do at birth

                -crying, breathing

 

 

 

Migration - moving to a different region, usually for the winter

 

 

Fossil - Evidence that something lived long ago

            -example - dinosaur bones, footprints in the ground       

 

Extinction - all members of a species die out.
